The Union for Rights of Prisoners was founded by prisoners in prison and defends the rights of ALL prisoners in Austria. The solidarity group consists of members outside of prison and supports prisoners in their concerns and demands. It also strives to raise public awareness of the situations of prisoners and regularly organizes letter-writing workshops that try to break the isolation of prison. The solidarity group also organizes events like reading groups and film screenings to discuss and work towards the abolition of prisons and police.
