Tool For Against was developed as part of a research project of the Friedrich Kiesler Foundation in Vienna. After diving into Kiesler’s vast and complex body of work, I focused on one of his most fundamental desires: the elimination of walls. Taking this reduced idea, I created a deliberately naive and superficial tool that attempts to assist in its fulfillment.
The tool consists of two smartphones held by a 3D-printed bracket, that is attached to a wall – any wall where it might be needed. Depending on the viewer‘s position, the 2 figures on the screens either support each other or fight each other – paradoxically making the elimination of walls even more challenging.
